At St Joseph’s, we believe that Religious Education is an essential part of helping children understand the diverse world around them. It gives them the opportunity to reflect on their own beliefs, values, and experiences while learning about those of others. We follow the Kapow Primary Religion and Worldviews Curriculum, which is designed to nurture thoughtful, respectful, and open-minded learners.

Through this curriculum, children are encouraged to think deeply and ask meaningful questions about religion and worldviews. They explore how these beliefs are lived and experienced by people in different communities, both locally and around the world. As they progress through school, pupils revisit key questions that help them make connections between ideas and develop a richer understanding of the topics they study.

Our approach supports children in becoming reflective and curious learners who are prepared for life in modern Britain. They learn to appreciate and respect views that may differ from their own, and they begin to understand how their own perspectives shape the way they see others. This helps them grow into compassionate and informed members of society.

The Kapow curriculum also ensures that our teaching meets national guidance. It reflects the importance of Christianity as the main religious tradition in Great Britain, while also recognising and exploring the other principal religions represented in our country. It provides a broad, balanced, and inclusive education that helps children understand the role of religion and world views in shaping individuals, communities, and society.

Religious Education at St Joseph’s is about more than learning facts—it’s about developing empathy, understanding, and a lifelong curiosity about the world and the people in it.
