Admissions

The admission policy of West Sussex is outlined in the booklet “Information for Parents” which is published by the Education Authority. This can be accessed on the West Sussex County Council website admissions information page. As the school is maintained by the local authority, West Sussex County Council decide the admissions of the school. Please contact them for more information (see below).

Schools in West Sussex are categorised as community, voluntary controlled and voluntary aided. Community and voluntary controlled schools serve catchment areas.

Parents are very welcome to visit the school. Please make an appointment at the school office (email office@stjosephsinfant.school). During the autumn term, we hold two open days for prospective new parents to visit the school.  Mrs Laura Turner, Headteacher, is happy to answer any questions that parents have. We can also make appointments at other times if these are not convenient.

St Joseph's Infant school Admission Policy is as follows: ‘Pupils start school in the September following their fourth birthday. Parents have the right to choose whether their child starts full or part-time but they must be in full-time education in the term following their fifth birthday. This is negotiated with the parent and the school based on the needs of the child.
